Lakers negotiate Lowe + Grant trade! Four players could match the salary of the Trail Blazers asking for a first-round pick

On January 23, Beijing time, according to Evan Sidery of The Athletic, the Lakers recently negotiated a trade for Jerami Grant and Robert Williams with the Trail Blazers. The Lakers can match the payroll by packing Hachimura, Vincent, Vanderbilt and Hood Schifino. The Trail Blazers need a first-round pick in return.

So far this season, the 30-year-old Grant has played in 32 games, averaging 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, shooting 38.3% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range. The 27-year-old played in 15 games, averaging 5.9 points, 5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, shooting 69.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range.

Grant has four years left on his contract, with an annual salary of 29.79 million, 32 million, 34.2 million and 36.41 million, with the final year being a player option. Lowe has two years left on his contract, $12.42 million this season and $13.28 million next season.

Grant's form has dropped significantly this season, and Lowe's injury concerns have been around for a long time, but both players have been interested in the Lakers for a long time. It was previously reported that the Rockets, Warriors and Clippers also wanted to pursue Lowe.

The Athletic Shams reported that James and Davis are increasingly concerned about whether the Lakers can use the team's two first-round picks to make major roster upgrades, according to sources.

Both James and Bush have said they want the team to take action to compete for a championship, with both stars believing the Lakers may be just one or two pieces of the puzzle away from a championship.

The Lakers have explored potential trades in the league and are willing to trade their tradable first-round pick for a player who fits James. The Lakers currently have two first-rounders available for trade in 2029, 2031 and two second-rounders in 2025. The Lakers are currently 23-18 and sit in sixth place in the West.
