Lin Xiaojun represented the Chinese short track speed skating team for the first time to participate in the international comprehensive competition, which attracted the attention of Korean media

China will send its most elite short track speed skating team to the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, which will be held on home soil. According to the list of contestants published by the organizing committee on the official website on the 26th, China will include naturalized player Lin Xiaojun, veteran Fan Kexin, Hungarian naturalized player Liu Shaolin, and Liu Shaoang brothers in the list of contestants.

It is the first time that Lin Xiaojun has participated in an international comprehensive competition as a member of the Chinese team. In 2019, when he was active as a signature short-track speed skating player in South Korea, Lin Xiaojun was suspended for one year by the Korean Skating Federation for picking up teammate Hwang Dae-heon's pants, and then he became a naturalized Chinese citizen.

Lim has been focusing on training and made a comeback in the 2022-2023 season via the International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup. Last March, he demonstrated rust-free technique at the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in the Netherlands. He won gold medals in the men's 500m, men's 5000m relay and mixed 2000m relay and became the triple crown champion of the competition.

Lin Xiaojun, who has emerged in the short distance event, is expected to attack the men's 500m championship at this Asian Winter Games. Hwang Dae-heon, who has an indissoluble bond with Lin Hyo-jun, was defeated in last year's South Korean national representative selection competition, so he will not participate in the Asian Winter Games.

In the first group of the women's 500m quarterfinals of short track speed skating at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, China's Fan Kexin and Canada's Alison Charles are falling.

The strength of Liu Shaolin and Liu Shaoang's brothers should not be underestimated. The two skaters won gold medals at PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022 respectively, making them the world's top skaters. After promoting naturalization in China in the winter of 2022, the two players with Chinese fathers will wear the Chinese team jersey to compete in international competitions from the 2023-2024 season. The two players will also represent China in an international comprehensive competition for the first time after naturalization.

In the Chinese short track speed skating women's team, the veteran Fan Kexin played and attracted people's attention. South Korean media dubbed Fan Kexin the "foul king" for her repeated use of foul moves in international competitions. Among them, Fan Kexin at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics caused controversy due to many foul behaviors such as explicit gestures that grabbed the body of Park Seung-hee (who is now retired). In addition, Fan Kexin was disqualified for a foul in the women's 500m semifinals at PyeongChang 2018, and in the women's 500m quarterfinals at Beijing 2022, she also put on a ridiculous performance of pushing down her opponent with her hands.

South Korean media said that short track speed skating is a sport where athletes' bodies often come into contact with each other, and it is decided whether it is a foul according to the referee's discretion, so the referee's decision has always been controversial. The foul tactics of the Chinese team have become an important issue for the South Korean delegation to deal with.
