The first experience of the electronic good ball belt Darby Xiu had a strikeout and was ruled invalid: I don't like it very much

Padres' Japanese pitcher Shuyu Darby got his first experience of the automatic ball-strikes (ABS) system used in major league games through actual shooting in spring training today. In the process, he was challenged by a hitter and his strikeout was cancelled. In an interview, Darby Xiuyou smiled awkwardly: "I don't like it very much. ”

During the actual shooting practice, Darby Xiu threw an inside corner change ball, which left the hitter in place, and was originally judged to be a strikeout. But the hitter thinks it's a bad ball and challenges it. Eventually, the automatic electronic good ball belt system ruled that the ball was bad, and the strikeout was cancelled by Darby Xiu. After the practice, Darby Xiuyou said in an interview that there were two balls in this practice that he thought were good balls, but they were reversed by the electronic good ball belt, so he didn't like the system very much.

The automatic electronic band system has been used in minor league games before, and for the first time this year, it was used in spring training at the major league level. According to the Spring Training regulations, each team has 2 chances to challenge each game, and if the challenge is successful, the opportunity is retained. And the challenge must be made as soon as the referee makes the decision, by tapping the hat or helmet quickly, and only the hitter, catcher and pitcher can do so.

According to official data from Major Leagues, it takes about 17 seconds to complete a challenge in the automatic electronic band challenge system. In minor league events, the challenge success rate is 50%, with an average of 3.9 attempts per game.
