Armstrong, the 56-year-old assistant coach of the NBA Mavericks, was arrested on suspicion of an aggravated attack with a lethal weapon on the 15th US time. The Mavericks also issued a statement on the 17th Beijing time, saying that they had suspended an employee.

The Associated Press revealed that Dallas police said that in the early hours of Saturday local time, preliminary investigations showed that Armstrong, 56, had an altercation with the victim, who attacked the other party with a firearm and threatened to shoot. Police noted that Armstrong knew each other with the victim.
According to a local television station in Dallas, WFAA, citing sources, the victim was a woman. Mr. Armstrong, who was charged with aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, was released on $35,000 bail after being jailed on Saturday.
The Lone Ranger issued a statement saying that the employee has been administratively suspended pending the outcome of the legal process and that "no further comments will be made while the case is pending." NBA officials have not yet commented on this.
Armstrong spent 14 seasons in the NBA, including a 2005-06 season with the Mavericks as a backup point guard, leading to the Finals with the team, losing to the Heat. Armstrong joined the Mavericks coaching staff from the 2008-09 season.
