After a year and a half ban, French star Pogba is set to join Ligue 1 club Monaco.

The 32-year-old Pogba will finalize his transfer to Ligue 1 team Monaco this week, marking his return to football after a year and a half suspension. The French midfielder is in advanced negotiations to sign a two-year contract with the club. Sources close to the deal indicate that an agreement has been reached, and Pogba is expected to return to France from his temporary base in the U.S. in the coming days for a medical examination before signing.

French star Pogba, after completing his suspension in March this year, is rumored to be joining Ligue 1 club Monaco.

Involved in a doping case, Pogba was banned for 18 months. The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) after a random test during Juventus's first match of the 2023/24 season against Udinese, resulting in a four-year ban. After appealing, his suspension was reduced to 18 months.

In November 2024, Juventus officially terminated Pogba's contract, allowing him to restart his career after his suspension ended on March 11 of this year. The final ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that Pogba had inadvertently consumed dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a substance that can increase testosterone levels and is listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list.

Most importantly, the ruling stated that DHEA is only effective for women. Pogba, a French midfielder, has played for prestigious clubs such as Juventus and Manchester United during his career. In the summer of 2016, Manchester United paid over 100 million euros to bring him in. In 2018, Pogba was a key player for the French team, leading them to win the World Cup.
