2025 World Men's Volleyball League Chicago leg: Chinese men's team faces tough challenges.

For a long time, there has been a noticeable gap between the Chinese men's volleyball team and the world's top teams. To enhance the team's strength and return to the world stage, the volleyball center has implemented a series of measures in recent years: hiring foreign coaches for the national and youth teams and improving the quality of the league through reforms. As a result, the Chinese men's team lived up to expectations, winning the Challenge Cup at home and earning qualification for the World Men's Volleyball League once again.

In the first leg of the competition, the Chinese men's team finished with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses, accumulating 6 points. Victories against European powerhouses Serbia and the Netherlands boosted the team's confidence, and they made progress in areas like serve reception, blocking, and combination play. However, there remains a significant gap in strength compared to the world's top teams. Over the four matches, the Chinese team also revealed issues such as inconsistent performance and unstable player mentality, which can affect tactical execution. Recently, the Chinese men's volleyball team has been adjusting and training to address these issues, aiming to evaluate their training results in the U.S. leg of the competition.

In the U.S. leg, the Chinese team will face the world-ranked sixth U.S. men's volleyball team in their first match, which has a mature offensive system and strong skills in serve reception and other areas. However, this season, the U.S. team is primarily focusing on developing new players, giving the Chinese men's team a chance to compete. Italy and Brazil, ranked fifth and seventh in the world, respectively, possess strong front-row capabilities and excellent offensive variability, presenting a significant test for the Chinese men's team's ability to handle pressure.

Looking at the schedule, the Chinese men's volleyball team will consecutively face the strong teams of the U.S., Brazil, and Italy, with a tight and intense schedule. Beyond physical stamina, the Chinese men's team also needs to maintain their psychological resilience and mindset under pressure.
