On June 19 local time, Lee Chong Wei, the legendary Malaysian badminton player appointed as the sports ambassador for Johor, visited Muar and presented 100 badminton rackets as gifts.

According to a Facebook post by Chai Jianwen, the special affairs officer for the Chinese community in Johor, he, along with Johor Chief Minister Datuk Ong Hafiz and Lee Chong Wei, went for a 5-kilometer run around the rice fields in Muar early that morning. Photos released by Chai Jianwen showed that their arrival was welcomed by locals, with many residents gathering to take pictures of them. Chai Jianwen also revealed that Lee Chong Wei prepared 100 badminton rackets to gift to the people of Muar.

Since retiring, Lee Chong Wei has remained involved in the badminton community, always concerned about the development of badminton in Malaysia. As a member of the committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic gold medal pathway program, Lee Chong Wei attended a press conference for the program on June 10 local time. In a media interview afterward, he expressed his hope that all Malaysian athletes selected for the gold medal pathway program would receive the best support to achieve the dream of winning Malaysia's first Olympic gold medal at the next Los Angeles Olympics. He also hopes that Malaysia can not only achieve the goal of winning its first gold medal at the next Olympics but also aim for two or three gold medals.
