In the 2025 WBO middleweight championship, Japanese boxer Sasaki lost his memory for 6 weeks after being "KO'd" by his opponent.

Getting "KO'd" (knocked out) by the undefeated champion in the championship match caused Japanese boxer Sasaki to experience a "time reversal" of about 6 weeks?! Last Thursday, in the 2025 World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight championship held in Tokyo, the current American champion Norman defeated the local fighter Sasaki by KO, winning the gold belt for the fourth time.

After being knocked out by champion Norman, Sasaki surprisingly lost around 6 weeks of memory!

The 24-year-old Norman, nicknamed "Killer II," has an undefeated professional record of 30 fights, with 28 wins (2 no contests) and 22 knockouts. He has held the WBO middleweight championship title since November 2023.

After being knocked down by a counter punch from Norman, Sasaki fell to the ground. After knocking Sasaki down twice in the first round, Norman controlled the pace of the match, ultimately knocking Sasaki down at 46 seconds into the fifth round with a left hook counter, winning the fight.
Sasaki fell to the ground, motionless for over a minute after being knocked down, and was then carried out on a stretcher and urgently sent to the hospital. After a CT scan confirmed there was no serious brain injury such as bleeding, and no obvious injuries were found, he was discharged the same day.

Sasaki reportedly does not remember that the championship match had been confirmed. However, according to Kazumasa Nakaya, the manager of Sasaki's boxing gym, the boxer has lost his memory of the past 6 weeks. Nakaya stated, "Sasaki told me, 'I don't even remember that this championship match had been confirmed'."

According to previous reports, the championship match between Norman and Sasaki was finalized in late April of this year. The 23-year-old Sasaki has a professional record of 19 wins (17 by KO), 1 draw, and 2 losses, and previously held the WBO Asia-Pacific title.
