Taipei's hurdle goddess, Luo Peilin, shattered the meet record and clinched gold at the Thailand competition, aiming for a medal at the 2026 Asian Games.

On June 24, 2025, the 31-year-old Taipei hurdle star, Luo Peilin, ran a record-breaking 57.85 seconds in the women's 400m hurdles final at the Thailand International Athletics Championships, easily securing the gold while marking her third time in June finishing under 58 seconds.

Recently, Luo Peilin achieved a personal best of 57.44 seconds in the women's 400m hurdles at the 2025 Taiwan International Athletics Open, securing her qualification for the upcoming Nagoya Asian Games, thereby fulfilling her dream of competing. She admitted, “The journey has indeed been tough; I faced disappointment when I couldn't finish at the National Games, but I didn't want to give up easily.”

It is reported that Luo Peilin trains during the day, takes on coaching duties in the afternoon, and may work part-time at night to cover training expenses, all in pursuit of her dreams. Notably, her perseverance stems not only from long-term self-discipline and time management but also from undergoing laser surgery for myopia, using various methods to improve her performance. She stated, “I’ve been nearsighted since the first or second grade, and I always wore contact lenses, which were very inconvenient, especially during rainy or sweaty competitions when my vision would blur, making it hard to see the hurdles.”

With the assistance of her agent and Weishi Eye Hospital, Luo Peilin was determined to make a lasting change. Her recovery after surgery went smoothly, and she no longer needs glasses or contact lenses, allowing her to concentrate fully during training. She remarked, “I no longer have to worry about my vision blurring; I can fully immerse myself in the rhythm between running and the hurdles.”

Since running 57.87 seconds at the Kinan Memorial Meet in Japan in May, Luo Peilin also recorded a personal best of 57.44 seconds in the preliminaries at the Taiwan Open, finishing with 57.91 seconds for silver in the finals, meeting the Asian Games qualification standard. She expressed gratitude for the support and favor from her sponsors, which allows her to train without worries and have the resources to plan training abroad.

Luo Peilin's goal is to stand on the Asian Games podium.

Having secured her ticket to the Asian Games, Luo Peilin aims to further enhance her stride frequency and technical details. “Next, I will refine the number of steps between hurdles and increase my speed, with the goal of standing on the Asian Games podium.”
