The third game of the TPBL Championship in Taiwan took place on the 21st at the Kaohsiung Arena, attracting a full house of 12,000 spectators. New Taipei Kings star Jeremy Lin stepped up in the final quarter, scoring 14 points in that period and achieving a game-high 26 points, leading the team to a 104-99 victory over the Kaohsiung Aquas, giving them a 2-1 lead in the series.
Jeremy Lin sparked a comeback in the final quarter, leading the Kings to their second win against the Aquas.
After squandering a 19-point lead in the previous game, the Kings made adjustments by allowing Sonny, who performed well in the earlier series, to replace Odi. The Aquas also fielded their foreign players, including Ed, Craig, and Weisheng. The two teams battled back and forth, with the Aquas entering the decisive quarter with a 5-point lead, but they couldn't stop the Kings' resurgence. Lin scored 14 points in the final quarter, notably hitting a crucial three-pointer with 58 seconds left and adding 8 consecutive points from free throws, solidifying the victory. The Kings had a team shooting percentage of 47.9%, with Lin contributing 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Sonny added 18 points and 9 rebounds, and Li Kaiyan made 5 of 7 three-point attempts for 18 points.
The TPBL Championship Game 3 drew a crowd of 12,000 at the Kaohsiung Arena, creating a spectacular atmosphere.
Even in away games, many fans came to support the Kings. Lin remarked, "The fans have always moved me. I didn’t expect so many people to come. At my age (36), I can still play, and the fans are willing to watch, whether supporting us or the Aquas. This is fantastic for basketball."
Lin's younger brother, Lin Shu-wei, who celebrated his 33rd birthday yesterday, contributed 7 points and 7 assists. Jeremy revealed that his brother was very focused on the game and did not prepare anything special for his birthday celebration. The change in foreign players proved effective, with Kings head coach Ryan admitting that the decision between Odi and Sonny was really tough, and putting Sonny on the court was an attempt to counter the Aquas with a different lineup. However, he also pointed out that it was a high-intensity game, and he was very happy to win under such physically demanding conditions.
