Angels' head coach Ron Washington is stepping away indefinitely due to health issues, with bench coach Ray Montgomery taking over in the interim.

Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian announced today that head coach Ron Washington is temporarily stepping down due to health concerns. During this transition, bench coach Ray Montgomery will act as the head coach. Montgomery joined the team in 2020 and has been the bench coach since 2021.

The 73-year-old Washington took over the Angels before the 2024 season, having previously served as a coach for the Braves for seven years. During his tenure with the Rangers from 2007 to 2014, he led the team to the World Series twice.
