World Baseball and Softball (WBSC) President Fakhali recently led a delegation to Australia to meet with the senior management of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Organizing Committee, saying that "this trip is the first step for the inclusion of baseball and softball in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games".

Baseball and softball are not core sports and must be recommended by the host city and approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Baseball and softball were included at Tokyo 2020, but not at Paris 2024; The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics have already been confirmed to include baseball and softball.
According to the WBSC press release, Fakari led the senior management of the World Baseball and Softball Association to Australia, accompanied by WBSC CEO Schmidt and Chief Operating Officer Ye Na, and met with the senior management of the Australian Baseball Association and the Softball Association.
The WBSC delegation's visit focused on the inclusion of baseball and softball in the official Olympic programme in 2032. They visited the Organising Committee to learn about the preparations and met with the Executive Director of the 2032 Organising Committee, Hook, and the Race Director, Keane.
Fakhali said via social media that the meeting discussed Australia's influence in global baseball and softball, and expressed his desire to include baseball and softball at the Brisbane Olympics in seven years' time.
A number of Australian baseball and softball players also participated in the talks, including four-time Olympic medalist softball player Harding, three-time Olympic softball player Graham Porter, Australian baseball star Atherton and others.
