The athletes of the "world's strongest" Korean short track speed skating team participating in the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games passed the test easily on the first day. The South Korean team successfully advanced to the men's and women's 500m and 1000m preliminaries and men's and women's 1500m quarterfinals of the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games held at the Heilongjiang Provincial Ice Training Center Complex in Harbin on the 7th, and also won a ticket to the mixed 2000m relay final.

On the 7th, in the women's 1500m quarterfinals of short track speed skating at the Asian Winter Games, South Korea's Choi Min-jeong was galloping.

The Korean short track speed skating team ranked 1st~2nd in the men's and women's 1500m quarterfinals, the first event held on the day. Kumquat Li, who was the first to appear, calmly finished first in the second group of the women's 1500m quarterfinals. She held the lead with three laps to go, then picked up the pace a bit before finishing comfortably on top of the race. Among them, Cui Minjing broke the Asian Winter Games record (43.371 seconds) set by Chinese player Fan Kexin at the 2017 Sapporo Asian Games for the first time in 8 years with a time of 43.321 seconds.

Jang Sung-woo and Park Ji-won finished first in the men's 500m heats in the first and seventh groups, and Kim Tae-sung finished second in the eighth group, both of whom qualified for the quarter-finals. Kim Tae-sung collided with Hungarian-Chinese naturalized player Liu Shaoang during the start, but passed the first hurdle after the restart.

On the 7th, in the women's 1000m preliminaries of short track speed skating at the Asian Winter Games, South Korea's Kumquat Li was galloping.

In the 1000m heats, the Korean athlete also showed his unique skills. Shen Shixi ranked first in the women's 1000m preliminaries group 2, Kumquat Li and Choi Minjing in groups 3 and 4. Park Ji-won entered the quarterfinals with a first-place finish in the men's 1000m preliminaries group 1, Jang Sung-woo group 2, and Kim Jian-woo group 6.

In the mixed 2000m quarterfinals group 3 competition with Kim Keon-woo, Kim Tae-sung, Shim Seok-hee and Roh Do-hee, the South Korean team easily overtook Singapore and India to top the group. In the subsequent semi-finals of the event, Park Ji-won, Jang Sung-woo, Choi Min-jung, and Kim Ju-ri reached the final as the group winners.
