At this Asian Winter Games, North Korea sent only a three-person delegation of figure skating pairs Lion Daeok/Han Kim Chol and a men's single skater. The DPRK delegation headed by Kim Il-guk, chairman of the DPRK Olympic Committee and minister of sports, departed from Pyongyang on 5 May and arrived in Harbin on the same day.
